John Hind accompanied by Mike Horne gave a talk to the Rugby Branch of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, as part of their winter programme, which has included subjects ranging from Nuclear Power to the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000.  The audience of approximately 40 was made up of professional engineers and railway enthusiasts.  John spoke for an hour about the project, including what has been achieved, how we operate, steam locomotive development in context with the development of motor cars, jet engines and aircraft, before moving onto talk about the the work of Chapelon, Porta and Wardale.

John outlined the design rationale behind the 5AT and its benefits and improvements over its predecessors.  This was followed by showing some of the CAD work that has been done for the Feasibility Study, before closing by talking about some of the challenges in the project.  At the end, there was a lively question and answer session.

The talk was well received and the project was described as 'well thought out'.
